Kim's Taekwondo was founded in 1972 by Great Grandmaster Hong Sik Kim, who was born in Gimcheon, Korea. Over his 40 year career, he directly guided and inspired more than 40,000 students, establishing one of the largest Taekwondo organizations in the United States. Great Grandmaster Hong Sik Kim also served as a Colonel in the military, adding military discipline and leadership into the foundation of Kim’s Taekwondo. Today, the organization includes over 40 affiliated schools, with Kim's Taekwondo Eagle Rock continuing that lineage. We honor Great Grandmaster Kim's legacy by teaching his guiding philosophy: "To become an honorable human being with perfect character and physical condition." As we pass this tradition to future generations, we carry forward his enduring message of "Progress, Peace, and Love", inspiring students to grow with purpose, strength, and compassion.

Under Great Grandmaster Kim, Master Jeremy Hebard, has built a strong foundation in traditional ITF Taekwondo through the direct mentorship of Great Grandmaster Kim. His advancement to 7th Degree Black Belt was overseen by Grandmaster David Knife, following the passing of Great Grandmaster Kim, continuing a respected lineage of traditional ITF Taekwondo leadership. Beginning his training in 1987, Master Hebard has devoted nearly four decades to the martial art of Taekwondo, guiding thousands of students contributing more than thirty years of teaching to the growth of Kim's Taekwondo. As the founder of multiple schools in both California and Idaho, he has established several martial arts programs and is known for building strong fundamentals, structured progression, and instruction rooted in the Tenets of Taekwondo. Master Hebard carries forward a message of growth, purpose, and strength, inspiring students to train with honor, confidence, and compassion; as he continues to grow leaders.

Under the supervision of Master Hebard as their mentor, the Monson family opened Kim’s Taekwondo Eagle Rock, establishing a school committed to preserving and expanding Kim’s Traditional ITF Taekwondo. After five years of dedicated training as students of Master Hebard, they carry forward the leadership lineage of Kim’s Taekwondo with the goal of bringing the martial art to future generations. As a family‑owned school, their mission is to grow the Kim’s Taekwondo family and strengthen the community it serves. With a foundation built in military service, Asa and Mary Monson bring real‑world experience as United States Army OEF veterans, dedicated to preserving peace in the world. Their focus is to provide a safe, structured environment where children and families can grow as leaders while learning the Tenets of Taekwondo, developing practical self‑defense skills, and enjoying the process of training together.
